When Being Alone Does Not Mean Loneliness

Lifestyle

19 Dec

Being single is tough. In a world where romantic love is overrated, it sometimes feels like singleness is a crime or disability. But it isn’t any of the two. As cliché as it may sound, being single is a blessing. It is a phase when one learns many things. What worthwhile activities can a single person do to get the most out of this season?

When Being Alone Does Not Mean Loneliness

Be Out in the Field

Go out there and be in the dating field. Pair up with somebody chosen for you by an intuitive matchmaker in New York. This match has a high chance of succeeding. The criteria for selection are also based on your answer in the in-depth interview. If you have enough connections, you can go out with someone from your social circle. If it is possible, put online dating as last in your option. This type can be only superficial.

It may be contradictory to consider dating in this season in your life. But you need to hone your social skills. You need to meet a few people for you to determine what you want. Be open to commit some mistakes and date the “wrong ones.” Just remember to tread carefully, too.

Value Time with Loved Ones

Romantic relationships need a great deal of time. When a person is involved with somebody, family and friends often take a back seat. When you get married, you will barely have time for anything aside from your spouse and children.

Thus, grab this season of singleness. Enjoy every moment with loved ones. Go out on an adventure with your best friend. Have those sleepovers with your peers. Spend a lazy afternoon on the deck with your family. Enjoy the wonderful people in your life.

Sometimes, you focus too much on your significant other and forget everyone else. But when things are rocky and have gone south, your family and friends are the ones who will be there for you. Single or not, carving time for these special people is important.

Get a Real Perspective

When asked what love is, single people or those in a relationship often go mushy and starry-eyed. In your season of singlehood, dig deep and get the real score behind love. How will you do such a feat?

Look for friends who are married. Ask them if you could spend a considerable amount of time with them, like a whole weekend. Remember, though, to be as inconspicuous as possible. Do not overstep your boundaries.

Observe and see how the dynamics of married life are different from when you are only in a relationship. You will see the daily struggles. But you will also see how they roll up their sleeves to make their relationship work. Seeing this kind of perspective will give you a clearer picture. You will know what kind of person you would like to date next time.

Lavish Yourself with Love

This can never be emphasized enough. Self-love comesbefore finding true love in another. Thus, you need to spend time with yourself. Get to know yourself better. Engage in new activities or hobbies, and set goals for yourself. There are somany enjoyable things to doin this season of your life. Be comfortable with being alone, at least for this time.

Singleness is not a curse. It may not feel that way when everyone around you has somebody. But you will thank yourself later when you enjoy this period. When the right one comes along, they will find a happier and more complete person waiting for them.
