How To Fight The Sedentary Lifestyle

If you find yourself mostly lying down and sitting as opposed to standing and walking around, it means you live a sedentary lifestyle. It is not a problem if you want to sleep and sit down in a comfortable chair but if your schedule is so busy that you become sedentary, it can drastically affect your life. Human beings need to move and need to be as active as possible. This is especially the case when at work as you sit for long periods of time.

The good news is that battling sedentary lifestyle is possible. In most cases you do not even need help from a plumbing company Melbourne specialist to install extra items in your home, as with seniors. Some of the things that you can do are listed below.

Take Microbreaks

Going away from your desk is not necessary for long periods of time in most cases. Something as simple as just standing up and doing upward stretches is enough. Do so once every 2 hours and your unused muscles will feel a lot better. This can do wonders for you feeling a lot better.

Exercising

There is a clear reason why people always recommend that you work out. This is one of the best ways to combat sedentary living effects. Is it hard for you to find times to go work out? Do not think that this means you have to stop exercising. Various options are available for you. For instance, you could always opt for a quality pilates exercise chair. This is small and you can easily find place for it. The chair allows you to do all stretching and strengthening exercises you need to avoid the sedentary lifestyle. Also, a part of your non-work time should be allotted to doing exercises.

Running

The Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN for short) of Deakin University did a study showing the fact that running will strengthen your spine. This is why it is considered to be a wonderful exercise, aimed to manage back pain and prevent it.

It is possible that you are not used to this type of exercise. If this is the case, walking is also something that you can do. It is as beneficial as running when it comes to improving your spine’s discs. If you never exercised before, be sure that you talk to a trainer so that you can get your own plan built for you.

Final Thoughts

One of the biggest problems with the sedentary lifestyle is that it tends to hit you and then never go away. You will feel that there is nothing that you can do and in time, injuries can appear. It is possible that you think that you simply cannot walk anymore or do everything that you are used to. As this happens, the sedentary lifestyle becomes second nature. You need to do all that you can in order to avoid this.

Remember that no matter how difficult it seems for you to move, there are always things that you can do to reduce how sedentary you are.
